0.1 (build 24) — 12 October 2026
– Mixed-size nesting update.
0.1 (build 23) — 11 October 2026
– Export page length: with pages on, TIFF, JPEG and PDF pages are the full page length. It also says that “Crop to content” no longer applies to PDF when pages are on.
0.1 (build 22) — 11 October 2026
### New features
– **Choose size and copies when adding images.** File › Add Image… and the Add Image button now show a **Print size** menu and a **Copies of each** field in the file window, so files, size and quantity are picked in one place. Tick **Keep open for the next order** to have the window come back, in the same folder, after each Add; click Cancel when you’re done. Prints that don’t match the chosen size get the crop sheet as they’re added.
### Changes
– **The import size question is asked only for drag-and-drop.** The Add Image window has its own size menu, so it never asks.
– **Cut marks now default to 0.03″ from the image** (was 0.05″), at 0.1 pt. Existing jobs keep their own settings.
### Fixes
– **Cut marks at the edge of a page now print in full.** With a roll split into pages and a top margin of 0, the top cut line of every page could be missing — the line was placed right on the page edge and half of it was cut off. Prints now sit just far enough in for the whole line to print (about 0.0025″ at 0.1 pt), on pages, sheets and the roll edges.
0.1 (build 20) — 8 October 2026:
– New: splitting a roll job into pages, including the Canon “No Spaces at Top or Bottom” tip and how exports follow the pages.
– New: the Add Image button.
– Fixes: the button hover and press behaviour, and Buy Now now opens the purchase page.
0.1 (build 19) — 30 September 2026
### New features
– **Centimetres.** Preferences › Units now offers Inches, Centimeters and Millimeters. Every size, margin, gutter and cut-mark field, the rulers and the readouts follow it; the arrows beside a field step 1 mm (0.1 cm) at a time in either metric unit.
– **Metric print sizes.** Output Size, Resize to… and the import size prompt now include the standard European print sizes — 10 × 15, 13 × 18, 18 × 24, 20 × 30, 24 × 30, 30 × 40, 40 × 50, 40 × 60, 50 × 70 and 60 × 90 cm. In centimetres or millimetres they are listed first; the inch and A-series sizes are still there below them.
– **”About AirPrint color…”** under Color Management, when an AirPrint printer is chosen, explains in plain words why color works differently there: the printer always applies its own color conversion, so Application Manages Color and paper profiles can’t be used, and how to get full control with the manufacturer’s driver.
– **Black Point Compensation.** A checkbox under Intent, on by default, for Relative Colorimetric: maps your image’s black to the paper’s black so shadow detail prints instead of turning solid black. It uses the same method as Photoshop and matches Photoshop’s output on Canon and Cold Press profiles. Perceptual, the default intent, is unchanged.
### Fixes
– **The AirPrint notes under Color Management are readable.** The “How to switch to the
manufacturer’s driver” link was cut off at the edge of the panel and now wraps onto two
lines, and “(Not available on AirPrint printers)” now reads as part of the option above
it, at the same size.
## 0.1 (build 18) — 28 September 2026
### New features
– **Short licence keys.** Keys are now 20 characters, like `XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX`. Entering one activates NestPrint over the internet once; after that the licence is checked on your Mac and NestPrint never contacts the licence server again. A key can be active on up to three Macs.
– **The long keys still work, with no internet at all.** A long key from build 17 pasted into Enter License Key… activates on the Mac, exactly as before — for anyone who would rather not activate online, or whose Mac is offline.
– **Pasting a key is more forgiving.** The key is found even if the paste includes other text, quotes, line breaks or different dash characters, as can happen copying from an email.
– **Clearer messages when activation fails:** key not recognised, key deactivated, already active on the maximum number of Macs, or no internet connection.
## 0.1 (build 17) — 27 September 2026
### New features
– **Sheet mode works like a page.** Switching to a sheet, or changing its size, now zooms to show the whole sheet, centred in the window, with its top edge clear of the ruler. Images you
drop or resize stay on the sheet (outward cut marks included) instead of hanging off the bottom. Roll width is greyed out while a sheet is in use.
– **Images bigger than the sheet or roll can be fixed.** Previously a tile larger than the sheet could not be resized because its far handles were out of reach. The overhang is now shown, the paper edge turns red where it will be cut off, and **Fit to Sheet** (Fit to Roll Width on a roll) — from the right-click menu or a button on the tile — scales it onto the printable area, marks included. It never happens on its own.
– **The printer’s unprintable border is shaded on the canvas.** Printers cannot print right to the paper edge; an image placed flush against it used to lose its outer ⅛” without warning. The border is now shown for the chosen printer and paper, per side — on a PRO-4600 13×19 sheet that includes the ¾” band along the bottom.
– **Crop sheet: Fit Inside, and apply to the rest.** Fit Inside scales the whole image to fit the target size without cropping or distorting it. When resizing several images at once, a “Do the same for the remaining images” checkbox saves answering one crop sheet per image.
– **AirPrint warnings are more useful.** If the manufacturer’s driver is already installed, the warning says so and tells you to re-add the printer with it. For printers with no manufacturer driver, Printer Manages Color offers “Don’t warn me again for this printer” (undo with NestPrint › Reset AirPrint Warnings). A How to Fix link opens a step-by-step guide. Application Manages Color is now unavailable when an AirPrint printer is selected, since AirPrint always converts colour a second time.
– **The driver’s Color Matching pane greys out in Application Manages Color**, as it does in Photoshop, so it is clear NestPrint is handling colour. In Printer Manages Color it stays
active, so the driver’s own settings, including No Color Correction for profiling targets, remain available.
– **One-click licence activation.** A link in the purchase email activates NestPrint without copying and pasting the key.
– **Finer cut mark distance.** The Distance steppers now move in 0.005″ (0.1 mm) steps.
– **Hold the zoom − / + buttons to zoom continuously.** Status bar text is slightly larger.
### Fixes
– **Prints are placed exactly where the canvas shows them.** Every print came out about ⅛” right of its canvas position (and higher, on sheets). Measured on a PRO-4600 roll, an image
snapped 1″ from each edge now prints 1″ from each edge.
– **Sheet prints are no longer slightly reduced.** On papers with a larger bottom border, such as the PRO-4600’s 13×19 cut sheet, every sheet printed about 3.6% small.
– **Thin cut lines print at an even weight.** A very thin line could print one or two printer pixels wide depending on where the image sat, so it looked heavier in some places.
– **The rulers draw correctly** — ticks grow from the canvas edge and the side ruler’s numbers no longer spill onto the canvas.
– **Print and export links in the status bar** no longer show a doubled, slightly offset label when the canvas is empty.
– **The margin guide is darker** and easier to see against the paper.
### Changed
– **Licence keys use a new, signed format**, checked on your Mac with no server. Keys issued in the old format no longer activate; beta testers were sent new keys. Builds 16 and earlier cannot read the new keys and reply “Invalid license key format” — update first, then enter the key.
– **Colour messages name the printer you have chosen** rather than always saying Canon, and interface text now uses US spelling throughout.
## 0.1 (build 16) — 23 September 2026
### New features
– **Choose the printer in NestPrint.** A Printer menu at the top of the Job Panel lists every installed printer, with AirPrint ones labelled. Previously NestPrint used the system default
until a job had been printed to another printer, and resolution detection and sharpening followed that default too. Page Setup is removed; it never affected the job.
– **Fewer Cuts wastes less roll.** A print that does not fit the rest of a row can now go under a shorter print in that row before a new row is started, with no extra cuts. For example, a 20×30 and two 8×10s used to take about 8″ more roll than Better Fit.
### Fixes
– **The canvas no longer jumps when you select an image.** A long file name could widen the Image Info panel, and the canvas re-zoomed each time. Both side panels now have a fixed width.
– **Outward cut marks count when dragging and snapping.** Snap to Edges lined up image edges, so neighbouring cut lines could overlap. Dragging, snapping and placement now allow for the
marks, as auto-nest already did.
– **An image dragged into a neighbour stops exactly one gutter away**, for single images and groups, instead of wherever the last mouse movement left it.
– **Rotate and Delete no longer get in the way of moving an image.** They sit in the bottom corners, show on hover, and act only when released over the button, so grabbing an image to
move it can no longer delete it.
## 0.1 (builds 10–15) — 19–22 September 2026
### New features
– **Disable an image without removing it.** A disabled image stays on the canvas, faded, with its sized, crop, rotation and sharpening kept, but is left out of printing, export, nesting and the length and waste figures. Use the right-click menu, Canvas › Disable/Enable (⌘⇧D) or the “Disable image” checkbox in Image Info. Canvas › Disabled Images, and the “N disabled” count in the status bar, list them so any one can be re-enabled, or all at once.
– **Duplicate Multiple…** in the right-click menu makes up to 99 copies in one step, and undoes in one step.
– **⌘⇧N nests with Fewer Cuts.**
– **Type a zoom percentage** into the status bar’s zoom field.
– **Warning when a printer is set up as AirPrint.** macOS can add a large-format printer as an AirPrint printer instead of using the manufacturer’s driver, and the two look identical in the print dialog. AirPrint gives NestPrint no control over roll feed, cutting or colour, so NestPrint now says so before printing and explains how to switch to the driver. With Application Manages Color on, the warning says plainly that colour will be wrong: AirPrint printers always apply their own colour conversion, so the job would be converted twice. The check also runs if you pick a different printer in the print dialog, and ⌘P now takes the same path as the Print button wherever the focus is.
– **Partially-written images can no longer reach the printer.** A file still being saved — over
a network share, or by a sync app such as Dropbox or iCloud Drive — could previously print
with a black or garbled band across it, at the correct size and with no warning, because macOS reports such a file as complete. NestPrint now checks that an image is whole before printing or exporting and stops the job with an explanation if it is not. The same check now runs when you drag in or place an image, so a file that is still downloading is refused with an explanation instead of landing on the canvas with a broken thumbnail. Phone “motion photo” JPEGs, which carry a short video after the image, are recognised as complete.
– **Images edited on another machine are picked up too.** The canvas re-checks its files once a minute while NestPrint is frontmost, so an image edited by someone else on a shared server or
NAS shows up without having to switch away and back.
– **Images edited in Photoshop now update on the canvas.** Switch to another app, edit a file you have placed, and switch back: NestPrint re-reads it and the canvas updates. Retouching
reloads on its own; if the image was cropped, resampled, or converted to a different colour profile, the tile gets an *Edited* badge — click it to choose whether to keep the placed size
or take the new one. Previously the canvas kept showing the version from when you imported it while printing used the edited file, and a crop in Photoshop would cancel the job with a
message about a disconnected drive.
### Fixes
– **Updates install again.** In builds 9 and earlier, updates downloaded but failed to install with “An error occurred while running the updater.” Those builds cannot install the fix
themselves — they now show a link to the website instead of an Install button. Download build 10 or later once, and in-app updates work from then on.
– **No more keychain password prompt about “confidential information”.** macOS could ask permission for NestPrint to read its own licence and trial data after an update.
– **Cut mark line weight is right in TIFF and JPEG exports** — marks were about 4× too thin. On the canvas, the line weight now follows zoom, so changing it visibly changes the marks.
– **Auto-nest no longer pushes the layout off the canvas** when an image is wider than the roll. Images that do not fit are set below the layout and NestPrint says how many and why.
– **Pressing Return in a cut mark override field no longer resizes the image.**
## 0.1 (builds 4–9) — September 2026
### New features
– **Print sharpening and upscaling, with live before/after comparison.** Per-image sharpening slider (0–10) with a split-view compare toggle right on the canvas, plus Lanczos upscaling to
your printer’s native resolution. Includes a zoom-to-100% button, since sharpening differences are invisible at fit-to-window. Sharpening is off by default on every image and never applies itself.
– **Automatic printer detection.** NestPrint now identifies your printer family and targets its native resolution — 600 PPI for Canon and HP, 720 PPI for Epson — with a manual override in
the Job Panel if it guesses wrong.
– **Crop-to-content option for PDF export.** New checkbox, on by default: exports just the area
your images occupy instead of the full roll width. Uncheck it to keep full roll-width positioning when sending to an external RIP.
– **Zoom keyboard shortcuts and a View menu.** ⌘= zoom in, ⌘− zoom out, ⌘0 fit to window.
– **”Hide file info” checkbox** in the Image Info panel’s File section — hides the info strip drawn across each image on the canvas.
### Fixes
– **Application Manages Color now actually reaches the printer driver.** The colour-management mode you chose was never being communicated to the driver, so the driver kept applying its
own conversion regardless of the setting. Output now matches a colour-managed print from Photoshop.
– **Sharpened and resized images keep their colour profile and bit depth.** They were being converted to generic RGB, and 16-bit files truncated to 8-bit. This affected the default Printer Manages Color path and every export format.
– **Very large prints no longer come out blank.** Above a certain pixel count the render silently produced an empty page.
– **Printer settings now follow the printer the job is going to**, not whichever printer happens to be the system default.
– **Canon printers with renamed print queues are now recognised** — detection previously relied on the queue’s display name.
– **NestPrint no longer overrides your driver preset’s roll cutting and paper source settings.** If your preset has automatic cutting off, it stays off.
– **The import size prompt now behaves predictably** — it appears once per launch instead of intermittently.
– **Cut mark settings no longer carry over between documents.**
– **PDF export no longer includes the empty canvas area** around your images (see crop-to-content above).
– **Longer informational messages no longer get cut off** in narrow side panels.
– **Numeric fields display correctly in millimetre mode.**
– **Sharpening is no longer tied to upscaling.** The slider is always available, whether or not an image is being enlarged. The suggested-amount button still appears when upscaling applies.
– **The DPI value no longer reads “300 DPI DPI”** in the Image Info panel.
### Removed
– **Black Point Compensation checkbox.** It had no effect on output — deferred until it is
implemented properly rather than left as a control that does nothing.
– **Soft Proof and Gamut Warning.** The preview did not correspond to the printed result, so it
has been pulled until it simulates paper white and black point.
